Camp Counselor

- Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Pay: $16 / hr.
Dale Rogers Training Center (DRTC) is seeking an energetic and responsible Camp Instructor to support our summer program for teenagers and young adults with disabilities. This role focuses on providing a fun, safe, and meaningful camp experience while helping participants build communication, independence, and pre‑employment skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision and ensure camper safety at all times
- Support daily camp activities with the Camp Director
- Model positive behavior and maintain age‑appropriate communication
- Assist with personal care (eating, changing, toileting) as needed
- Implement positive behavioral supports and crisis intervention
- Report incidents promptly and accurately
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
- Serve as designated medical contact for emergencies (CPR, AED, seizure care, Heimlich)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with teens with disabilities preferred
- Experience providing instruction or training to students with disabilities
- Strong communication and decision‑making skills
- Ability to work independently in community settings
Requirements:
- 18 years or older
- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
- Ability to pass OSBI, MVR, DHS Registry Check, references, and drug test
- Safety‑sensitive position
- Ability to stand up to 8 hours and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform CPR, AED use, seizure care, and Heimlich maneuver
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Work Environment:
- Summer program (June only)
- Indoor and outdoor community‑based activities
- Non‑exempt; overtime paid after 40 hours/week
