Working Shop Supervisor
Primary Function(s)
Direct shop employees and flow of jobs through the shop to achieve highest productivity and quality in a safe manner, and to meet customer requirements and government regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Schedule/plan daily production through shop's various stations. Ship and receive jobs/projects. Monitor employee output for productivity, quality and safety. Communicate with customers to schedule pickup and deliveries, as well as quality issues that arise. Oversee maintenance issues that arise. Monitor shop supplies and materials needed for current and upcoming jobs. Keeping shop orderly and clean.
Minimum Requirements
Previous supervisor experience desired. Mechanical aptitude and basic math and writing skills required. Must be able to follow instructions from management. The position requires hands on supervision. Some coating/metal finishing experience preferred.
Desirable Skills
- Verify PO numbers on job with paperwork.
- Organize and maintain the work order folder system.
- Maintain the production board.
- Document non-conforming product, and cause of problem when known.
- Accurately report production activity for the shift.
- Maintain a polite and professional relationship with the customers.
- Train operators on safe operating procedures.
- May be required to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Communicate and enforce plant rules and regulations.
- Promote safety and good housekeeping.
- Report unsafe conditions
- Ensure that employees and visitors follow the company safety program.
- Initiate disciplinary action when necessary.
- Communicate accurate daily shift information management, and customers as requested.
