Seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong substation design experience (13kV–345kV) within Power Generation, Combined Cycle Power Plants, Oil & Gas, or Utility environments. Candidates must be capable of designing substations from scratch and supporting projects from concept through construction and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Lead/support substation projects from concept, design, construction, and closeout.
- Develop complete substation design packages including physical layouts, grounding, lightning protection, raceways, conduit, cable routing, and control building layouts.
- Create and review one-line diagrams, AC/DC systems, battery sizing, Protection & Control (P&C) schematics, SCADA, relay panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform engineering calculations including grounding, lightning analysis, insulation coordination, voltage drop, cable sizing, conduit fill, short circuit, and load flow studies.
- Develop equipment specifications, BOMs, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with IEEE, NEC, NESC, and utility standards.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
- 5–20+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- Experience designing electrical substations (13kV–345kV) from scratch.
- Combined Cycle Power Plant experience.
- Experience with LV/MV transformers, switchgear, MCCs, motor controls, and VFDs.
- Experience preparing technical reports and presenting findings to clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Texas P.E. License.
- Experience with Trailer Mounted Power Systems.
- Utility, EPC, or consulting engineering background.
Must-Have: Substation Design (13kV–345kV), Combined Cycle Power Plants, Power Generation/Oil & Gas experience, and the ability to independently develop complete substation design packages.
