Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe lifting practices and assistive devices like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; document findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to HIPAA and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to implement care plans tailored to each patient’s needs, including those in long-term care facilities or hospice settings.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols and proper manual handling procedures.
- Document patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while respecting patient confidentiality and privacy regulations.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
- Tuberculosis and medical screening complete and up to date
- Certification in CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or dementia care are a plus.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or in long-term care, assisted living, or nursing home settings preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic anatomy relevant to patient care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; experience with medical documentation is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks safely while adhering to safe lifting practices.
