We are hiring an experienced Extrusion Technician II to support specialized commercial and medical extrusion operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong machine operation experience, mechanical aptitude, quality awareness, and the ability to work with limited supervision in a controlled manufacturing environment.
The Extrusion Technician II will set up, operate, adjust, troubleshoot, and clean extrusion manufacturing equipment while supporting production quality, documentation, material handling, and efficiency goals. This position works within a GMP and ISO 13485 regulated environment and requires attention to detail, strong documentation habits, and the ability to follow specialized work instructions.
This is a Level II opportunity designed for candidates who have operated manufacturing equipment independently and are ready to take on more responsibility with setup, troubleshooting, quality checks, and process support.
- Set up, run, adjust, and monitor extrusion manufacturing equipment according to work instructions and production standards.
- Operate multiple pieces of manufacturing equipment and support extrusion production processes.
- Troubleshoot equipment or process issues and make basic machine adjustments as needed.
- Perform quality checks to ensure product compliance and identify defects.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, vision systems, and laser micrometers.
- Complete production documentation accurately in accordance with GMP and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Monitor raw material usage and track production throughout production lots.
- Support raw material handling, mixing, blending, staging, and finished goods packaging.
- Perform machine cleanouts, changeovers, and resets.
- Take action to support quality limits, production efficiency, and safety expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
- Assist with training and supporting newer operators as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical high school diploma or Associate’s degree in a STEM field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience required.
- Prior experience with extrusion, plastics, medical device manufacturing, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, GMP, or another controlled manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with melt extrusion strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to read and use precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of weights, measures, decimals, fractions, and metric measurements.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow written work instructions.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Must be flexible regarding manufacturing schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods while monitoring equipment.
- Plastic extrusion or melt extrusion experience.
- Medical device or clean manufacturing experience.
- Experience with precision tubing, medical tubing, or controlled production processes.
- Experience performing changeovers, machine cleanouts, and basic equipment adjustments.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO 13485, or regulated quality documentation.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Consistent lifting of less than 20 lbs.
- Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment and raw materials.
