We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare administration team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of medical billing processes and healthcare claims management. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately processing medical claims, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining precise medical records. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient operation of our billing department and support optimal financial performance for our healthcare facility.
Duties
- Review and verify patient information, insurance details, and medical records to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and payer requirements.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through healthcare claims management processes, including resubmission and appeals.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, patient interactions, and correspondence related to medical collections.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures that impact billing accuracy.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to access patient data efficiently.
- Stay informed about updates in health insurance policies, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of healthcare claims management and medical coding practices.
- Familiarity with billing software applications.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems within a medical office environment.
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, medical terminology, and medical records management.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing processes.
- Prior experience in medical collection procedures is desirable but not mandatory.
