Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and care.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for procedures.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal results.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history documentation to support safe treatment planning in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain infection prevention standards through proper sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control protocols.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient management software.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient record keeping and appointment management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to orthodontics and general dentistry.
- Experience with dental X-ray techniques, including dental radiography and medical imaging safety standards.
- Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques for seamless patient care delivery.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles when working with young patients requiring orthodontic intervention.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining treatment plans clearly and providing compassionate patient care.
- Understanding of dental equipment operation including endodontics tools, prosthodontics devices, 3D scanners, and medical documentation software.
