Major Job Duties
The Part-Time Certified Water/Wastewater Operator is responsible for the routine operation, inspection, and monitoring of assigned drinking water (DW) facilities and wastewater collection assets. This role ensures the water and wastewater treatment processes comply with environmental regulations and standards.
The assigned drinking water facility requires an operator to visit six (6) days per week. Although regulatory requirements only require approximately fifteen (15) minutes per visit, the position guarantees a minimum of two (2) paid hours per scheduled workday. During the remaining time, the operator will perform utility field activities, inspections, and operational support duties as assigned throughout the southern Florida service area.
Pay Range: $30.00 +/hr.

Primary Responsibilities
- Perform required inspections of assigned drinking water treatment facility six (6) days per week.
- Maintain compliance with FDEP operational requirements and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Monitor plant operations and equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Record operational data, meter readings, chemical levels, and inspection results.
- Report equipment malfunctions, operational concerns, or regulatory issues to management.
- Perform weekly inspections of assigned wastewater lift stations and document findings.
- Perform customer service field work including: Water service turn-ons, Water service disconnects, Meter and billing investigations, Verification of customer service requests.
- Assist with routine maintenance activities and minor repairs on water and wastewater facilities.
- Maintain accurate operational records using company software systems.
- Travel between assigned facilities throughout the southern Florida service area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Florida Class C Water Operator License required.
- Wastewater Operator Certification preferred but not required.
- Valid Florida Driver License with acceptable driving record.
- Reliable personal vehicle required for travel between assigned facilities.
- Basic knowledge of drinking water treatment and wastewater collection systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn industry software and mobile work order systems.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to walk treatment facilities, lift stations, and utility easements.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, and other conditions common to water and wastewater utility operations.
- Travel is required between multiple facilities using the employee's personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with company policy.
- Position requires occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency response support as operational needs dictate.
