We're looking for an exceptional private tutor to work one-on-one with a bright, curious rising second grader. This is not a remediation role, but an opportunity to nurture a student's love of learning while thoughtfully extending her growth through engaging math and literacy enrichment.
The family is looking for an educator who brings warmth, creativity, and strong instructional judgment. You'll help ensure that learning feels joyful, confidence-building, and intellectually stimulating rather than like "extra school." Beyond teaching, you'll become a trusted educational partner who helps the family thoughtfully support their daughter's continued academic growth.
Student Profile
You'll be working with a rising second grader who is curious, energetic, playful, talkative, and thrives when learning feels interactive and fun. She loves art, swimming, Taylor Swift, funny books, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Owl Diaries, and creative storytelling.
Academically, she is doing well and is looking for enrichment. This placement is designed to keep her challenged, confident, and excited about learning through meaningful math and literacy experiences that build on her strengths.
Her family values curiosity, confidence, and long-term academic growth. They are looking for an educator who can build a genuine relationship with their daughter while serving as a thoughtful educational partner over time.
What You'll Do
- Design engaging one-on-one enrichment lessons in both mathematics and reading/writing.
- Reinforce strong grade-level foundations while extending learning through rich, conceptual problem solving.
- Create creative reading and writing experiences using humor, storytelling, books, art, and the student's interests.
- Make every session engaging, relationship-driven, and appropriately challenging without feeling like additional schoolwork.
- Strengthen executive habits including explaining reasoning, reading directions carefully, perseverance, organization, and thoughtful communication.
- Observe academic strengths and emerging interests, proactively recommending competitions, enrichment opportunities, books, or other experiences that may support the student's continued growth.
- Provide concise, thoughtful updates to parents following sessions with observations, progress, and recommendations.
What Makes Someone Successful
- You genuinely enjoy working with early elementary students and naturally bring warmth, enthusiasm, and positive energy into every lesson.
- You know how to make rigorous learning feel playful and engaging without sacrificing instructional quality.
- You have experience supporting students in academically rigorous environments or with advanced elementary learners.
- You're comfortable teaching both elementary mathematics and literacy at a high level.
- You understand conceptual math instruction and enjoy helping students think deeply rather than simply complete worksheets.
- You communicate professionally with parents and enjoy serving as a trusted educational partner.
- You can gently redirect a bright, chatty student while preserving her curiosity and excitement.
- You bring enough professional experience to confidently guide both the student and her family over time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching students in grades 1–3.
- Familiarity with Beast Academy, Singapore Math, Art of Problem Solving, or similar enrichment curricula.
- Experience with ERB or other independent school assessments.
- Experience working with students in independent or academically rigorous school environments.
- Background in elementary literacy instruction, writing development, and enrichment.
Logistics & Compensation
- Location: In-home in Dallas, TX
- Schedule: Approximately two 60-minute sessions each week (one math, one literacy, with flexibility)
- Start: Late July or August 2026
- Compensation: $50–75/hour, depending on experience
- Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Why This Role

You'll have the freedom to design engaging lessons, follow a child's curiosity, and help a family think proactively about their daughter's educational journey. If you enjoy building confidence, making learning joyful, and inspiring young students to embrace challenge with excitement, this is an exceptional opportunity to make a lasting impact.
