Position Summary
The Family Law Attorney will join DNH Law's growing family law practice and serve as a dedicated advocate for clients navigating some of the most emotionally charged legal matters of their lives. This attorney will manage an active caseload spanning divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, adoption, guardianship, modifications, and related matters - providing high-quality legal counsel that reflects DNH Law's commitment to empathy, transparency, and results. The ideal candidate is a licensed Indiana attorney with family law experience who brings both strong legal skills and genuine care for the clients they serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an active caseload of family law matters including divorce, child custody and support, paternity, adoption, guardianship, modifications, prenuptial agreements, fathers' rights, and grandparents' rights.
- Conduct client intakes, case evaluations, and strategy consultations - communicating clearly and compassionately with clients throughout every stage of their matter.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, agreements, orders, and all related legal documents to a high standard of accuracy and quality.
- Represent clients at hearings, mediations, depositions, and court appearances in Marion County and surrounding Indiana jurisdictions.
- Negotiate settlements and parenting plans on behalf of clients, always prioritizing their best interests and long-term wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate, complete case records in MyCase and adhere to all firm billing, documentation, and communication standards.
- Collaborate with the Managing Attorney and firm leadership on case strategy, client updates, and team development.
- Stay current on Indiana family law statutes, case law, and court procedures - continuously developing expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school required.
- Active Indiana State Bar admission in good standing - required.
- Minimum 2 years of family law experience in an Indiana practice setting.
- Demonstrated courtroom experience - hearings, trials, and oral arguments in Indiana courts.
- Strong legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication skills - written and verbal - with the ability to translate complex legal matters for clients.
- High level of empathy, professionalism, and client-focused orientation aligned with DNH Law's culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of family law experience in Indiana, with an established knowledge of Marion County courts and judges.
- Experience with high-conflict custody matters, paternity disputes, and complex asset divorces.
- Familiarity with MyCase or comparable legal practice management software.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
