Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide quality Group Fitness instruction to members of the public searching for better health and fitness.

MAJOR DUTIES
Provide exercise modifications for participants with specific needs (i.e., back and shoulder injuries, pregnancy, new exercisers, etc.).
Knowledge Required by the Position
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Coordinator of Health and Wellness Programs assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks work while in progress and once completed for compliance with procedures, and accuracy of the work. Quarterly meetings, as well as other training, will be completed by supervisor and instructor.
GUIDELINES
The Guidelines include HHPC Policies, San Juan College Employee Handbook, ADA regulations, and other college and program policies and procedures. These guidelines are clear and specific in their application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of routine physical- fitness training duties. The variety of customer needs contributes to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to provide quality fitness instruction to members of the public.
CONTACTS
Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment that require a high degree of dexterity.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Must be certified as a Group Fitness Instructor in industry-standard and discipline-specific certification(s)
