Overhead Distribution - Apprentice Lineman
Utiliforce, a leading Mid-Atlantic Overhead Electrical Contractor, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of Apprentice Lineman for our Overhead Electrical Distribution Division. The successful candidate will assist with construction and maintenance of overhead distribution lines and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, both written and spoken, and knowledge of working with energized high voltage systems requiring specific skill set. In addition, the candidate must have a proven track record of at least 1 year of experience in the electrical power line construction industry, with proof of previous experience, schooling, or formal training.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work and have a valid driver's license and be eligible and willing to sit for the CDL certification exam within 90 days of employment. Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have Class A CDL
- Knowledge of heavy equipment a plus.
- Ability to problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
- Able to climb different structures and possess the tools to do the climb.
- Must be able to identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment. (i.e., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel)
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick trucks.
- Work efficiently and effectively from heights.
- Work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
- Effectively cover up to safely complete work on energized lines and equipment.
- Meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket truck as identified by truck manufacturer.
- Follow directions, work safely & productively.
- Work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, and weekends.
- Reports all injuries, near misses, and other safety and health concerns to Foreperson.
- All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.
Safety:
Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and the requirement to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight, coordination, and endurance to perform the job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and handle conflict professionally. They must also be able to lift over 50 lbs, climb ladders and poles, and withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments.
