JOB DESCRIPTION FOR:
Server Assistant Assistant (Busser)
Reports To: Dining Manager

Job Summary:
The Wait Assistant (Busser) is primarily responsible for assisting food servers in providing quality service to members and guests as well as clearing and resetting tables. This position is also responsible for all sanitation and health code requirements for wait assisting areas. Furthermore, this position will interact on a daily basis with other Club staff, members, and guests. He/she will need to work with a variety of personalities on a daily and ongoing basis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Delivers water, cream, bread and butter as well as other items to tables as instructed by server
- In a timely manner, clears all dishes (cups, sliver, glasses, etc.) from tables
- Is attentive to guests at all times and pays specific attention to tables Host is seating so that the appropriate amount of waters, bread/butter, etc. is brought to them
- Ensures that all necessary equipment to service the meal is ready for use (i.e. glassware, silver, napkins, etc.)
- Completes all opening and closing duties
- Sorts all plating, silverware, glassware and garbage in proper bus pans and containers
- Sets/re-sets tables with correct linen or tableware in a timely manner as needed
- Ensures eating areas are clean by wiping tables, chairs and floor (removes crumbs, dust, etc.)
- Takes bus tubs to dish area, linen bags to appropriate spot and trash to the compactor
- Assists in setting up the dining room for the next shift including any upcoming parties or events
- Cleans bus carts and walls near bus carts
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Immediately cleans spillage in the pantry and dining room
- Polishes silverware and rolls napkins during slow periods or lag times and completes other side work
- Returns tables, chairs and highchairs to proper place when finished
- Attends and participates in team, departmental meetings and Club meetings as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education, Experience & Other Skills:
- Previous wait assistant/bussing or serving experience is desired
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally with others
- Ability to work with all personality types even in adverse situations
Mental & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift at 25 – 100 pounds
- Ability to climb on step stool or ladder in order to complete elements of the job or facilitate maintenance issues
- Bend, lean and stoop without hindrance
- Fine motor skills
- Ability to prioritize, anticipate situations, and take quick action
- Ability to take direction from management and/or Server/Host
- Ability to manage multiple projects and recommend/implement effective solutions
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Excellent problem solving/decision making skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude even in adverse situations
- Must adhere to proper grooming standards as per Club policy
