Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Spot Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise spot welding operations on various metal components, ensuring high-quality welds that meet industry standards. Duties
- Operate spot welding equipment with precision to join sheet metal and other metal materials according to technical drawings and specifications
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine weld locations and procedures
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to ensure accurate fit-up and alignment of components
- Maintain adherence to safety protocols and industry standards including AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes & standards
- Prepare materials by setting up fixtures, rigging, and positioning parts using hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, measuring instruments, and visual checks to verify weld integrity and dimensional accuracy
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication tasks including sheet metal fabrication, pipe threading, plasma cutting, and assembly processes
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction site environments or manufacturing facilities involving welding operations
- Strong knowledge of various welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, schematics, and technical drawings
- Ability to operate shop equipment such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, pipe threading machines, and fabrication tools
- Mechanical knowledge of metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, ductwork, and mechanical fabrication processes
- Experience with measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise measurements
- Knowledge of construction experience including rigging, forklift operation, machining, soldering, and safety protocols adherence
- Basic math skills necessary for interpreting technical data and performing calculations related to fabrication tasks
