Position Title
Farm Assistant
Primary Purpose
Support the daily operations of an organic, culturally grounded farm dedicated to healing, education, and community wellness.
Essential Duties
-
Assist with planting, cultivating, harvesting, and maintaining crops using organic and regenerative practices;

Support farm infrastructure maintenance, including irrigation, composting, weeding, harvesting and tool care;

Engage with youth and community members through hands-on farm activities and educational workshops;
-
Help implement cultural practices in farming, such as traditional planting techniques, crop stewardship, and seasonal rituals;
-
Maintain accurate records of crops, harvests, and supplies (tools, soil contents, etc.);

Uphold farm safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming environment;
-
Keep up to date with required training and emails;
-
Report any and all safety incidents or concerns to management.

Work Hours
-
40 hours per week, Monday through Saturday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;

This position requires regular and predictable attendance.
Working Conditions

Outdoor field and farm setting;
-
Travel to neighboring islands may be required.
Equipment Use
Computer, cell phone, heavy farm equipment, light farm equipment, utility terrain vehicle, gas-powered equipment, and hand tools.

Physical:
-
Must be able to perform routine farm duties as necessary on a commercial farm (e.g. digging, planting);

Requires lifting and carrying up to 70 pounds on a regular basis;
-
Ability to perform physical tasks in outdoor settings, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended period;
-
Able to perform strenuous fieldwork in harsh weather.
Communication:

Exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards volunteers, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Required:
-
High school diploma or equivalent;
-
Must possess working knowledge of various farm tools and equipment;

Willingness to learn is essential;
-
Strong interest in cultural practices, community healing, and youth engagement;
-
Flexible, reliable, and committed to fostering a supportive community environment.
Preferred:
-
One (1) year agricultural experience and knowledge of traditional Hawaiian farming systems;
-
Experience in organic or sustainable farming;
Experience with youth mentoring programs or educational facilitation.
