Summary:
The Child Development & Health Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning and monitoring of the child development, health, and nutrition component systems in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, training, monitoring, and assistance necessary for the Head Start/Early Head Start family service, health, and nutrition components to ensure service delivery compliance.

Support Family Services and Health Specialists in completing and documenting all required health screenings within Head Start Performance Standards (HSPS) timelines.

Assist center staff in coordinating community partners to meet 45/90-day health screening requirements.

Monitor and provide technical assistance to ensure child records reflect age-appropriate preventive and primary medical and oral healthcare.

Assist with the delivery and inventory of health, safety, and nutrition supplies.

Conduct observations assessing environments for safety, health, and nutrition practices; respond to identified deficiencies or training needs.

Prepare weekly reports and submit them to the Child Development & Health Manager.

Provide coaching and modeling for staff to ensure compliance with health, nutrition, and safety policies and procedures.

Conduct coaching of Food Service staff through observations, monitoring, and feedback visits.

Serve as a second staff member when necessary to accompany children to dental appointments.

Assist with providing family, health, nutrition, mental health, and safety trainings for families in collaboration with Family Service Associates.

Assist in planning and executing the Health Services Advisory Committee Meeting.

Support child injury analysis efforts.

Assist with food production and food supply orders.

Attend and participate in meetings, committees, training workshops, and conferences at local, state, regional, and national levels.

Serve as an advocate for Head Start families when needed.

Assist with special projects and assignments delegated by Head Start/Early Head Start Management Staff.

Recruit children for the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.

Secure and document in-kind contributions and volunteer support.

Ensure compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards, MCCAA policies, and applicable early childhood regulations, including DHS Licensing Standards, TN Department of Health, CACFP, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.

Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Studies, Health, or a related field required.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in health or a related field.
