Scope:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments of goods in a timely and efficient manner. This role involves receiving, unpacking, inspecting, and storing incoming materials, as well as preparing and shipping outgoing packages. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk also maintains accurate records of inventory and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
Duties:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify the accuracy of the contents
- Inspect shipments for damages or defects
- Sort and distribute incoming packages to the appropriate departments or individuals
- Prepare outgoing shipments by packing items securely and labeling them correctly
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments
- Assist with inventory management by conducting regular cycle counts
- Operate warehouse equipment such as reach trucks, order pickers, and pallet jacks
- Load and unload trucks using proper lifting techniques
- Perform basic equipment repairs as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic math skills for inventory management
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving practices
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations for warehouse safety
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Forklift Experience Required.
Working Conditions:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk typically works in a warehouse or distribution center environment. This role may involve frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving heavy objects. Depending on the organization's operating hours, the clerk may need to work evenings, weekends, or holidays
