We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Med Surg Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a medical-surgical setting, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in acute care nursing, with expertise in patient assessment, medication administration, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is a full-time, night shift opening for Med/Surg nurse with and without ER experience. 36 Hours weekly.
- Deliver direct patient care by performing physical examinations, vital sign monitoring, and comprehensive assessments to determine patient needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Monitor patients' conditions closely, recognizing signs of deterioration or complications such as acute pain or infectious disease symptoms.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with patient goals.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of results.
- Provide patient education on medication management, post-discharge instructions, and health coaching tailored to individual needs.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- Proven experience in medical-surgical units or acute care settings; ICU or Level I Trauma Center experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to adult patient care.
- Experience with IV insertion, suturing, ventilator management, and aseptic techniques essential for this role.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments accurately while demonstrating critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or urgent care settings; critical care experience preferred.
