Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line/Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the kitchen by assisting with food preparation and ensuring that all ingredients are ready for meal service as well as working a station on the line. This position requires a passion for cooking, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. As a Line/Prep Cook, you will contribute to menu planning and help maintain high standards of food quality and safety.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for various dishes, including chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables and proteins.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in food preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including proper food handling and storage practices.
- Support the Head Chef and other kitchen staff in daily operations, including meal preparation and cooking for service.
- Participate in menu planning by providing input on seasonal ingredients and dish ideas.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, ensuring all tools are cleaned and maintained after use.
- Help with inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying management of low stock levels.
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with culinary techniques such as knife skills, food handling practices, and meal preparation processes is beneficial.
- A strong understanding of kitchen safety protocols and food hygiene standards is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to complete tasks efficiently.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and kitchen demands is important for success in this role.
