Position Summary and Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance of the Village of Minong and carry out general duties related to the functions of the Streets/Parks Department and any or all requested job duties as assigned.
Position Accountability
This position is accountable to and works under the direction of the Director of Streets and Parks. General day-to-day supervision, administrative direction, and performance evaluation shall be received from the Director of Streets and Parks, who may consult with the Village Board as necessary to provide the employee direction.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Operations Division
1. Mowing, pruning, mulching, weeding, tree maintenance and planting, using fertilizers and pesticides, and all horticultural duties for the Village of Minong right-of-ways, parks, public facilities, and campground.
2. Maintenance of park benches, picnic tables, and playgrounds, as well as grounds
maintenance.
3. Clean and maintain restrooms and pavilions to the expected condition.
4. Litter/trash collection and general overall park grounds cleanliness.
5. Install and maintain signs on Village property.
6. Assist in the installation of holiday decorations around the Village.
7. Assist in filling potholes and sealing cracks as part of Village street maintenance.
8. Paint lines on streets using appropriate equipment.
9. Respond to weather emergencies, including tree and debris removal.
10. Clean streets and sidewalks using a sweeper or broom.
11. Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including mowing equipment, chainsaws, a
generator, power tools, and safety equipment.
12. Assist Parks and Recreation with events, including setup and takedown.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Skill in written and oral communication.
3. Knowledge and use of proper safety procedures in all environments.
4. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment where projects and priorities change often and quickly.
5. Ability to commit to a teamwork environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, officials, and the public in person, by phone, and in writing.
6. Ability to perform duties with considerable independent judgment and initiative under
limited supervision.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or
balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

1. This position is exposed to the following conditions: dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise, fumes, odors, wetness/humidity, vibrations, and varying temperatures.

3. The work is performed in a variety of settings, including outdoors (extreme heat or cold).
4. May require protective devices such as face masks, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing
