Job Overview
Under the supervision of the Landfill Supervisor, this position performs preventive maintenance and basic repairs on gasoline and diesel vehicles, heavy equipment, and small-engine machinery. Responsibilities include oil changes, lubrication services, tire repairs, inspections, tune-ups, and assisting mechanics with diesel engine, electrical, and equipment repairs. The role also supports shop operations by maintaining a clean and safe work environment, managing parts and inventory, and updating maintenance records. Employees will develop skills in equipment diagnostics and repair procedures for automotive, diesel, and power-driven systems.
This is a physically demanding position that requires working indoors and outdoors around machinery, vehicles, noise, chemicals, and equipment while using appropriate safety gear and lifting heavy materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid California Class C driver's license required; Class A license preferred
- High school diploma or GED required (equivalent experience may be considered)
- Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical maintenance or repair experience in a related environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred

Pay: $29.57 - $37.87 per hour
