Part-Time Position
American Petroleum Inc. is seeking a dependable and hardworking Cashier / Convenience Store Associate to join our team at Center Street Chevron in Tacoma.
Schedule:
- Saturday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Sunday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Opportunity for an additional weekday shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM) may become available for the right candidate.
Job Responsibilities
Customer Service & Cash Handling
- Provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Accurately handle cash, credit card, and other transactions.
- Balance and reconcile cash till at the end of shifts.
- Assist customers with purchases and store inquiries.
Stocking & Inventory
- Continuously stock merchandise throughout the day.
- Stock coolers with beer, soda, water, and other beverages.
- Stock shelves with candy, chips, snacks, and miscellaneous convenience store items.
- Maintain organized and fully stocked displays.
Cleaning & Store Maintenance
- Sweep and mop store floors.
- Clean windows, glass walls, and entrance doors.
- Keep the outdoor pump area clean and free of trash and debris.
- Empty all store trash receptacles and transport waste to the dumpster.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional appearance of the store at all times.
Additional Duties
- Receive and put away vendor deliveries when scheduled during weekday shifts.
- Assist with other store operations as needed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in refrigerated cooler environments while stocking products.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
Safety & Emergency Response
- Complete company-provided training regarding fuel spill response procedures.
- Learn and follow proper procedures for containing, reporting, and responding to gasoline fuel spills.
- Complete company-provided fire safety and emergency response training.
- Understand and follow emergency procedures in the event of a fire, including customer safety, evacuation protocols, and emergency notifications.
- Maintain awareness of safety hazards and help ensure compliance with all company and regulatory safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous cashiering experience encouraged.
- Previous convenience store or gas station experience highly preferred.
- Experience handling cash and balancing a register is a plus.
