Sets up and operates power press to assemble metal products by crimping, shaping, or press fitting by performing the duties below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Retrieves correct die set to accommodate parts that require second operations.
- nstalls specified dies on machine bed and ram.
- Checks proper operation of press after setup process has been completed by sampling a piece.
- Positions and clamps holding fixtures to machine bed.
- Aligns parts between dies or positions them against fixtures on machine.
- Operates machine to separate parts.
- Sets up and operates machine to punch, cut, face, chamfer, or compress parts preparatory to assembly.
- Installs gears and cams to synchronize action of multiple ram, feed, and positioning action of automatic presses.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves 25-40 lbs.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, punctuality and dependability.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and procedures in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and sight. The employee is occasionally required to walk.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or 40-60 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus and depth perception.
- Ability to perform the duties of this job, while working near moving mechanical parts.
