Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Occupational Therapist to join our educational team, committed to enhancing students' independence and functional skills within the school environment. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students’ motor skills, sensory processing, and functional abilities to identify areas for intervention
- Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy care plans aligned with educational goals and student needs
- Assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and fine motor tasks, to promote independence
- Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, and parents to coordinate care strategies and support student progress
- Provide therapy sessions focused on improving sensory integration, motor planning, handwriting skills, and adaptive techniques
- Support discharge planning by preparing transition plans for students moving between different educational or healthcare settings
- Document progress notes, maintain accurate records of interventions, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
Requirements
- Valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist with specialization or experience in pediatrics and school-based therapy
- Demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental delays in school or clinical settings
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and how they relate to pediatric occupational therapy interventions
- Familiarity with assistive devices and adaptive equipment used in educational environments
- Strong understanding of early intervention strategies and post-acute care practices relevant to pediatric populations
- Ability to develop care plans tailored to individual student needs while ensuring compliance with educational policies
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with educators, families, and healthcare providers
