Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing dental records to ensure accurate treatment planning
- Assist with chairside procedures such as dental x-rays, medical imaging, and the preparation of dental equipment
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear communication techniques
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document treatment details accurately and efficiently
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures aligned with healthcare standards
- Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants in four-handed dentistry to streamline patient care and enhance efficiency
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive medical information
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, ensuring a positive experience from start to finish
Experience
- Prior experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings is highly desirable
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records (EHR) and documentation review
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care practices
- Hands-on experience with dental x-ray procedures, X-ray equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and infection management protocols
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus for working with young patients effectively
- Excellent client communication skills to educate patients clearly about their oral health needs
