Commercial Credit Specialist (Hybrid)
Location: Elkton, MD (Hybrid)
Pay: Starting at $30.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Full-Time | Hybrid | Weekly Pay
About the Role
We are looking for a Commercial Credit Specialist to join our premier client's Finance team in Elkton, Maryland who will evaluate commercial customer creditworthiness, establish and maintain credit limits, and support healthy cash flow through effective accounts receivable management. This hybrid position offers a combination of on-site collaboration and remote work while supporting a dynamic business-to-business (B2B) credit operation.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Credit
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing commercial customers using financial statements, trade references, credit reports, and third-party resources such as Dun & Bradstreet.
- Analyze financial risk and recommend appropriate customer credit limits.
- Review and release customer credit holds while balancing business needs with company risk guidelines.
- Monitor customer credit exposure and recommend adjustments as business conditions change.
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Manage a portfolio of commercial customer accounts to ensure timely payment and healthy cash flow.
- Contact business customers regarding outstanding invoices and resolve delinquent accounts professionally.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, deductions, and billing issues.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and documentation.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and Order Management teams to resolve customer issues and improve the order-to-cash process.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce financial risk.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial B2B credit, including evaluating customer creditworthiness and establishing or managing commercial credit limits.
- Experience managing commercial accounts receivable and resolving customer payment issues.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, credit analysis, and commercial credit risk assessment.
- Experience using ERP systems to manage accounts receivable, customer credit, and order-to-cash processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with business customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Dun & Bradstreet or similar commercial credit reporting tools.
- Background in manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environments.
- Knowledge of commercial lending practices, trade credit, and financial risk management.
