We are seeking candidates to fill the position of Survey Crew Chief with conventional and GPS surveying experience to join our team in Dallas, TX. The Survey Crew Chief will set-up and operate cutting edge equipment and instruments used at job sites to measure, record and calculate data for all types of survey projects including: construction staking, DOT/topographic design, right-of-way/boundary, ALTA’s, photo-LiDAR control control/geodetic and terrestrial/mobile scanning. Provide communications with the survey coordinator and leadership, manage field data, maintain field notes and files and review final drawings where appropriate. Although not all types of surveys will initially be required, the desired candidate will be able to independently conduct topographic, ALTA, control and construction staking surveys.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

SURVEY CREW CHIEF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Execute land surveys to establish legal boundaries of properties.

Operate and maintain cutting-edge survey hardware, including Trimble total stations and GNSS receivers, terrestrial scanners, as well as survey, design and mapping software. Interpret survey data and calculate geodetic measurements to determine shapes, positions and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.

Use satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS), total stations, and levels to determine longitude and latitudes of important boundaries and/or features in the survey area.

Prepare and maintain data, charts, plots, records, documents, legal descriptions, sketches, maps and reports related to land surveys.

Follow required safety standards and guidelines.

Document written field notes and daily records.

Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.

Perform calculations utilizing calculator or supplied data collectors.

Record survey results and verify accuracy of data with proper recorded field checks.

Transmit survey data results, which includes sending data to the office from remote field locations.

Collaborate with engineering and architectural staff, clients and other invested individuals to review and coordinate findings.

Lead survey crew by providing direction and leadership by demonstrating an attitude for safety, cost control, efficiency and professionalism.

Demonstrate competency in operational logistics and field operations.

Maintain knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local surveying laws; rules, regulations and county ordinances; and policies, procedures and best practices related to land surveying.

Safely operate, maintain and care for survey equipment.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Ability to work extended hours, including some weekends.

Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain conditions.

Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time.

Must be able to travel to various US-based project sites.

Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.

SURVEY CREW CHIEF ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Required Qualifications:
-
5+ years of surveying experience using conventional, robotic or related surveying equipment. Candidates will be evaluated on personal initiative as well as experience.

Must have or have ability to obtain a FAA Part 107 license.

Proven experience using Trimble GPS and Trimble Access.

Working knowledge of Trimble Business Center software for basic survey calculations and
-
functionality.

Basic knowledge of the Public Land Survey System.

Required to have satisfactory results on a Motor Vehicle Record check and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Proven experience providing excellent customer service.
