We are looking for an experienced truck driver to make local deliveries on a permanent full-time basis, with an emphasis on safety, reliability and respect. The successful candidates will each go through training with our team in Calabash, NC for approximately 2 weeks. After training, we intend to assign one driver to each of our teams: Myrtle Beach, SC.
Responsibilities
- Transport wholesale foodservice supplies from local warehouse to restaurants predominantly the greater Myrtle Beach area
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues - perform minor preventative maintenance and report major issues to manager
- Follow planned routes and meet delivery schedules
- Process paperwork related to customer orders and payments
- Wait patiently when delays occur, eg. restaurant is not open yet, payment not ready
- Retain and turn in fuel receipts promptly
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Work safely, avoiding accidents and violations
- Take initiative, pay attention to detail, listen carefully to instructions
- Work well as part of a team and independently
- Some loading early morning
Skills
- Proven work experience as a truck driver, handling at least a 24-ft straight job truck
- Good physical health and strength
- Willingness and ability to do manual labor, including lifting 40-50 lb cases of product throughout the day
- Hands on experience with GPS on own smartphone, and ability to track working hours on company-provided app
- Ability to drive full shifts while remaining alert and attentive to surroundings
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- Ability to treat coworkers and customers with respect and patience when distressed
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
- Valid "regular" driving license (CDL / Class A commercial truck license is ideal but not required)
