Mazda of Lodi is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automotive Service Writer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will serve as the vital link between customers and our service technicians, ensuring smooth communication, accurate documentation, and exceptional service delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems and repair processes, along with excellent customer service skills to enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.
Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, listening carefully to their vehicle concerns.
- Write detailed service descriptions based on customer input, utilizing automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge.
- Prepare accurate auto estimates for repairs such as transmissions, oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire services, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, alignments, air brakes, and auto body repairs.
- Upsell additional services and maintenance options to maximize customer value while maintaining integrity.
- Coordinate with service technicians to communicate repair needs and ensure timely completion of work.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of all services performed for each vehicle.
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and promote repeat business.
- Stay informed about the latest automotive repair techniques and dealership service management practices to provide expert advice.
Qualifications
- Reynolds & Reynolds experience a plus
- Bilingual Spanish
- Proven dealership experience or extensive auto service management background preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Experience with auto estimating software and auto body repair processes is advantageous.
- Familiarity with a wide range of automotive repairs including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension work, tire services, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, alignments, air brakes, and other automotive service areas.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to upsell services tactfully.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with service writing expertise to accurately assess vehicle conditions.
- Ability to handle cash transactions responsibly and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Sales experience or automobile sales background is a plus.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
