Leave Replacement: School Nurse K-12
Work Schedule: 10:00 am-6:00 pm Monday-Friday and one Saturday
Private School seeks an experienced school nurse to provide health services to students in grades K-12 as a leave replacement. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to current practices in health services and also to working with children.
This is a temporary leave replacement position beginning on or around September 7th. The leave replacement reports to the School Nurse and Director of Operations & School Safety. The leave replacement nurse may also work closely with academic departments at the direction of the School Nurse.
In addition to the strong organizational skills needed to maintain school health records, they will need exceptional communication skills in order to effectively interface with students, parents, and employees. The leave replacement nurse will also provide infirmary coverage during after-school programming and complete any necessary incident reports prior to leaving the building each day.
Responsibilities
● Promote and protect the optimal health and well-being of students and employees. ● Maintain, evaluate, and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate the individual needs of students.
● Provide daily drop-in health service:
● Work with the School Nurse to interpret the health status of students to parents and school personnel
● Per instructions, initiate referrals to parents, students, and community health resources for intervention, remediation, and follow-up
● Under guidance of the School Nurse,provide ongoing health counseling with students, parents, school personnel, and outside health agencies
● Administer student medications per provider orders and maintain associated medication records.
● Use onsite health resources to provide appropriate care for students
● Plan and use school health management protocols for children with chronic health problems, including the administration of medication.
● Plan and collaborate accordingly for field trips concerning student medical needs.
● Under guidance of the school nurse, implement school health management protocols, including but not limited to:
● Emergency procedures for acute medical emergencies
○ Concussion protocols
○ Student and staff health policies
● Provide lunch time support at the start of each school year per direction of the school nurse. ● Maintain appropriate supplies and equipment for the school infirmary.
● Support the School Nurse with projects or tasks as assigned.
Requirements
● RN with 1-3 years of experience
● Knowledge of G-Suite, database systems.
● Outstanding professional integrity, including the ability to maintain confidentiality. ● Excellent organizational skills, including accuracy in multi-tasking situations. ● Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with students, parents, and colleagues.
Education & Qualifications
● R.N Advanced Nurse Degree
● Registered License New York State (Current Licensure)
● BLS Provider certified
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
