Saidi Studios is a small custom millwork and CNC fabrication shop in Ferndale, MI. We build cabinetry, casework, and architectural millwork for architects, designers, and contractors on commercial buildouts. It's a small team — everyone wears more than one hat. If you like being part of that then this is a good fit.
The Role
We're looking for someone to own Microvellum programming for cabinet and casework construction — building accurate, manufacturable cabinet files that feed our CNC nesting and cut-list process. This role sits right before production: get it right here, and the shop runs smooth; get it wrong, and it costs material and time on the floor.
Day to day, that means taking shop drawings and client specs and turning them into clean Microvellum files. There's real room here to build the library and workflow rather than just inherit one.
We are explicitly open to hiring for mindset over current Microvellum experience. If you don't know the software yet but have the technical aptitude, construction background, and tenacity to figure things out under real deadline pressure, we want to talk to you. We'd rather train the right person than hire the wrong one who already knows the software.
Looking For
Ideal: Direct Microvellum experience in a cabinet/casework environment.
Will strongly consider instead:
No Microvellum experience, but a real track record of teaching yourself complex software under pressure
Background in cabinet/millwork construction, CAD/CAM, or parametric design tools
Self-directed — doesn't wait to be handed an answer, comfortable saying "I don't know yet, but I'll find out"
Good fit for someone who wants to grow into a bigger role as the shop and our systems mature
Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
