Landscape Design & Sales Representative

Terra Forma Landscaping is one of Richmond’s premier residential landscaping companies, known for thoughtful design, meticulous craftsmanship, proactive communication, and a client experience built around trust and care.
We create and maintain beautiful outdoor spaces for homeowners across the Richmond area, including custom landscapes, planting and garden installations, patios, walkways, retaining walls, outdoor living spaces, lighting, irrigation, and ongoing property maintenance.
We are looking for a Landscape Design & Sales Representative to help prospective clients transform their outdoor spaces. This role is responsible for meeting with clients, understanding their goals, developing thoughtful landscape solutions, creating accurate estimates and proposals, and selling residential landscape projects that our production team can execute successfully.
This is a great fit for someone who understands landscape design and construction, communicates well with homeowners, enjoys building relationships, and can balance creativity with practical estimating, budgeting, and follow-through.
What You’ll Do
- Meet with prospective clients to understand their landscape goals, preferences, budget, timeline, and priorities
- Evaluate site conditions, opportunities, constraints, and potential challenges
- Develop thoughtful landscape concepts and solutions that reflect the client’s goals and property needs
- Create clear, accurate estimates and proposals for residential landscape projects
- Use Terra Forma’s design systems and software to develop polished, client-ready visuals when appropriate
- Present proposals and help clients understand the scope, value, and investment
- Sell planting, garden renovation, drainage, lighting, irrigation, hardscape, outdoor living, and other residential landscape projects
- Build estimates that are accurate, complete, and aligned with Terra Forma’s production standards
- Identify potential scope gaps, risks, and client expectations before projects are sold
- Collaborate with Design-Build Project Managers and production teams to ensure a smooth project handoff
- Work with third-party designers or Terra Forma design resources when needed
- Use LMN and other company systems to manage estimates, proposals, notes, pricing, and project information
- Maintain an organized sales pipeline and work toward sales goals, with increased commission opportunities as performance grows
- Meet or exceed sales goals, close rate goals, and other landscape sales KPIs
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a landscape professional who can combine design sense, horticultural knowledge, sales ability, and strong client communication.
You should be:
- Strong at building trust and communicating with homeowners
- A good listener who can turn client goals into practical landscape solutions
- Experienced with plants, horticulture, landscape construction, and residential outdoor spaces
- Comfortable selling consultatively without being pushy
- Organized, proactive, and consistent with follow-through
- Detail-oriented when estimating and defining scope
- Creative, but grounded in what can be built efficiently and profitably
- Comfortable collaborating with designers, project managers, crews, vendors, and subcontractors
- Motivated by sales goals, client satisfaction, and high-quality work
- Comfortable using technology and willing to learn company systems
Required Experience
- 3+ years of experience in landscaping, horticulture, landscape design, landscape sales, estimating, or a related field
- Strong plant and landscape knowledge
- Experience creating or supporting landscape estimates and proposals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients, proposals, and projects at the same time
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to visit properties, evaluate site conditions, and work outdoors as needed
Preferred Experience
- Residential landscape design and sales experience
- Experience selling landscape construction, planting, hardscape, lighting, irrigation, drainage, or outdoor living projects
- Experience with LMN or other landscape estimating/project management software
- Experience with landscape design software or digital design tools
- Horticulture, landscape architecture, design/build, or related education
- Strong portfolio of past landscape projects or designs
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $55,000–$65,000, depending on experience
- Tiered commission structure: 0.5% on sales up to the annual sales goal of $1,000,000, plus 10% on sales above $1,000,000
