A highly motivated Research Technician is sought to join laboratory investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying HIV persistence, neuroinflammation, accelerated aging, and neurodegeneration. The laboratory utilizes cutting-edge human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived microglia, cerebral organoids, and advanced genomic approaches to identify novel therapeutic targets and develop innovative interventions for HIV-associated and age-related neurological disorders.
Job Description
The successful candidate will participate in exciting multidisciplinary projects focused on understanding how HIV infection, chronic inflammation, and drugs of abuse alter brain function and contribute to neurocognitive impairment, neurovascular dysfunction, and accelerated aging.
NOTE: Candidates with experience in human iPSC-derived microglia, brain organoids, neuroinflammation, HIV biology, single-cell genomics are particularly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field, Experience with mammalian cell culture preferred, Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and expand iPSC cultures
- Assist with generation and maintenance of cerebral organoids
- Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments
- Train new lab staff regarding lab techniques
- Maintaining routine lab functions, assist with data collection and laboratory organization and maintaining detailed laboratory records
