Physical Therapist - Inpatient Acute Care

This is a staff Physical Therapist position at a 120-bed, accredited, not-for-profit acute care community hospital in Conroe, TX, approximately one hour north of Houston. The hospital serves a community of roughly 70,000 and operates alongside a Rural Health Clinic. The role reports directly to the Director of Therapy Services and offers the scope and visibility that comes with a smaller community facility rather than a large health system.

Compensation
$50.00 to $65.00 per hour, based on experience. $20,000 sign-on bonus. Full benefits package included.
What You'll Do
Under the general supervision of the Director of Therapy Services, you will organize and deliver medically prescribed physical therapy programs for inpatient acute care patients. Your caseload will involve restoring function, preventing disability, and maximizing patient performance following disease, injury, or loss of function. You will develop individualized therapy plans incorporating physical modalities including therapeutic exercise, massage, heat, hydrotherapy, and electrical stimulation as prescribed by the treating physician.
Clinical responsibilities include administering diagnostic and prognostic testing of muscles, nerves, joints, and functional ability. You will direct patients through active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation, gait training, and functional mobility using pulleys, weights, steps, and inclined surfaces. You will also administer whirlpool and contrast baths and apply moist packs as indicated. Instruction in wheelchair, walker, crutch, brace, and prosthetic and orthotic device use is a routine part of the caseload.
You will develop, instruct, and monitor home exercise programs, adapt treatment approaches for patients with cognitive or comprehension limitations, and provide posture control and self-management instruction. Documentation is completed in SOAP format with daily patient notes. You will evaluate and report patient progress to the rehabilitative team and maintain accurate department records in accordance with facility policy. The role also includes participation in quality assurance, safety, infection control, and equipment maintenance programs, as well as involvement in staff education and in-service training for medical, nursing, and support personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Current Physical Therapist license in the state of Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire
- New graduates are welcome to apply
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physical Therapy
- Prior experience in cardiac rehabilitation
- Familiarity with acute care inpatient documentation standards and SOAP format
- Experience working in a community hospital or rural health setting
