What You'll Do
As a Geotechnical Field Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring construction projects meet quality and engineering standards by:
Performing field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials including soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and steel
Conducting field and laboratory testing and documenting results
Preparing accurate field reports and inspection documentation
Performing soil and rock classification
Supporting construction quality control and assurance activities
Reading construction drawings, engineering plans, maps, and specifications
Assisting with geotechnical subsurface investigations
Coordinating laboratory testing programs
Preparing project scopes, proposals, and technical reports
Supporting project scheduling, budgets, and overall project management
Communicating professionally with clients and project teams
Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys field work, takes pride in producing quality work, and works well both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or a related field
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience interpreting engineering plans and specifications
Experience as an Environmental CAD Specialist or proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a strong plus. Candidates with drafting experience related to environmental, civil, geotechnical, or land development projects are encouraged to apply.
Willingness to travel approximately 25%
Preferred Certifications
NICET Level I (or higher) in Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt)
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
Nuclear Density Gauge Operator Certification
Radiation Safety Certification
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
