Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-10 coding standards.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including psychopharmacology interventions and medication administration tailored to individual needs.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services for patients across age groups, including children, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care plans.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation, medical records management, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives related to behavioral health or psychiatric treatments to advance evidence-based practices.
- Offer telehealth services to expand access to mental health support while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with valid state licensure.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, or individuals in assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient management.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology, CPT coding procedures, and ICD coding standards for accurate billing and recordkeeping.
- Critical care experience or hospital medicine background preferred; familiarity with acute pain management and emergency room protocols is a plus.
- Strong assessment skills in behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and crisis triage procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients on treatment options and health coaching strategies.
