Experienced Veterinary Assistant
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is confident in patient handling, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to providing exceptional patient care and client service. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently alongside our veterinarians and technicians while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Safely restrain and handle patients of all sizes and temperaments.
- Prepare patients for surgery, monitor recovery, and provide post-operative care.
- Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostic testing.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Obtain accurate patient histories and record medical information.
- Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment to the highest standards of cleanliness.
- Educate clients on medications, preventive care, nutrition, and discharge instructions.
- Support the veterinary team to ensure efficient workflow and excellent patient care.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a small animal practice required.
- Strong knowledge of animal restraint, husbandry, and patient care.
- Experience assisting with surgery, anesthesia preparation, radiology, laboratory procedures, and pharmacy duties preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, dependable, and a team player with a positive attitude.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
