Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with planning and conducting daily group and individual activities.
- Encourage resident participation while respecting each resident's preferences and abilities.
- Provide one-on-one visits for residents unable or unwilling to attend group activities.
- Assist residents during activities as needed, including wheelchair transport.
- Adapt activities for residents with dementia, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, or cognitive limitations.
- Promote resident independence, dignity, and quality of life.
- Prepare activity supplies and equipment.
- Decorate activity areas for all holidays and special celebrations
- Assist with holiday celebrations, birthday parties, special events, and community outings.
- Maintain activity calendars and distribute schedules to residents.
- Document resident participation according to facility policy.
- Report changes in residents' interests, behavior, mood, or functioning to the Activity Director and nursing staff.
- Assist with activity attendance records and other required documentation.
- Keep up to date and accuracy MDS assessments and care plans
- Work cooperatively with nursing, therapy, dietary, social services, and other departments.
- Follow infection prevention procedures.
- Maintain a safe activity environment.
- Report hazards, accidents, or incidents immediately.
- Follow emergency preparedness procedures.
- Participate in care conferences when requested.
- Assist with resident council activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Activity Director.
Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
-
Previous experience working with older adults preferred.
- Long-term care experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements
Employee must be able to:

Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
- Push wheelchairs.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
- Assist residents with mobility as appropriate.
- Work indoors and outdoors during activities.
