Production Manager – Precision Manufacturing Operations
Position Overview NanoSolutions is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, growing precision manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will develop and implement world-class production control systems, optimize manufacturing capacity, improve operational efficiency, and ensure reliable on-time delivery of high-precision products.
This role will lead the transformation of production operations through ERP-based manufacturing control, capacity planning, workforce optimization, equipment utilization improvement, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Senior Management to establish scalable manufacturing processes supporting current and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning, Scheduling, and Capacity Management
- Develop and maintain production planning/control systems using ERP software for real-time visibility of manufacturing activities, capacity, inventory, and delivery performance
- Lead implementation of production control software (work orders, scheduling, resource planning, performance tracking)
- Identify production bottlenecks and develop corrective action plans
- Develop capacity expansion plans (1-, 3-, and 5-year horizons) covering equipment, space, labor, process improvements, and capex
- Establish production schedules across work centers to meet delivery commitments
- Determine staffing and equipment capacity needs; optimize workflow and resource allocation
Manufacturing Efficiency and Equipment Utilization
- Drive machine uptime above 90% through performance metrics
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to improve reliability and reduce downtime
- Establish a dedicated Maintenance function (planning, reliability, preventive/predictive maintenance, facility improvements) reporting to this role
- Identify opportunities for automation and capacity increases
- Lead continuous improvement activities for productivity, cost, and scalability
Manufacturing Organization and Workplace Excellence
- Maintain an organized, clean, efficient manufacturing environment
- Improve facility layout, material flow, and production visibility
- Develop standardized procedures for scheduling, work center management, material handling, equipment operation, and maintenance
- Promote accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Leadership and Team Development
- Supervise and develop operators, technicians, and maintenance staff
- Establish training and cross-training programs for manufacturing flexibility
- Support employee development through coaching and mentoring
- Foster collaboration across Production, Engineering, Quality, and Senior Management
- Prepare and present manufacturing performance reports to Senior Management
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years manufacturing leadership/production management experience in a precision manufacturing environment
- Proven experience implementing or managing ERP-based production control systems
- Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly, ceramics, semiconductor, optics, or other precision manufacturing processes
- Experience with production scheduling, capacity planning, and manufacturing resource planning
- Demonstrated ability to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
- Associate degree or equivalent technical education in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience scaling manufacturing operations in a growing tech company
- Experience with ERP implementation and digital transformation
- Experience developing maintenance organizations and preventive maintenance systems
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience manufacturing high-value precision components for semiconductor, aerospace, optics, or advanced tech industries
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
