Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, energetic, and organized Summer Program Tutor for our Taylor Summer Program, serving school-age children (ages 5 to 12).
This role involves working closely with students to enhance their foundational academic skills, prevent summer learning loss, and supervise engaging recreational activities. The ideal candidate will blend the skills of a supportive tutor with the energy of a camp counselor, utilizing educational technology to facilitate instruction in the morning and leading fun field trips in the afternoon.
Daily Program Schedule
- 9AM-12PM (Taylor Public Library): Academic Enrichment & IXL Learning Modules.
- 12PM-2PM (Local Park): Travel, lunch, and outdoor recreation.
- 2PM-4PM (Airborne Adventure Park - Taylor): Travel and high-energy indoor park supervision.
Duties
- Support students as they work through elementary and middle school level IXL learning modules (focusing on foundational math, reading, and language arts).
- Monitor student progress within the learning platform, clarify basic concepts, and adjust engagement strategies to keep students motivated.
- Safely transport assigned students in your personal vehicle from the Taylor public library to a local park, and from the park to Airborne Adventure Park daily.
- Maintain precise administrative records, including a weekly transportation schedule (listing children transported) and an accurate mileage log for reimbursement.
- Actively supervise and ensure the safety of children (ages 5–12) across multiple environments, including the public library, an outdoor park, and a high-stimulus indoor adventure park.
- Foster a positive, structured, and fun environment that encourages both academic effort and safe, inclusive play.
- Communicate effectively with program coordinators regarding student behavior, progress, and safety.
Requirements
- Experience working with school-age children (ages 5–12) in an educational, childcare, or summer camp setting.
- Reliable personal vehicle, valid car insurance and driver's license, and clean driving record (required for daily student transportation).
- Comfortable utilizing basic learning technology tools (such as tablets/laptops and the IXL platform).
- Strong organizational skills to manage weekly paperwork (transportation schedules and mileage logs).
- Excellent communication skills, patience, creativity, and a passion for mentoring youth.
- Ability to maintain high energy and alertness while supervising physical activities at a trampoline/adventure park.
- Must pass standard background checks and fingerprinting.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
