Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Alterations Tailor to join our dry cleaners. In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert clothing alterations and custom tailoring services to ensure every garment fits perfectly and exceeds customer expectations. Duties
- Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, and repairs for both men's and women's wear.
- Use sewing machines and hand sewing techniques to achieve precise garment construction and finishing.
- Consult with customers to understand their tailoring needs and provide expert advice on alterations and garment fit.
- Handle fabric materials carefully, selecting appropriate stitches and techniques based on fabric type and garment construction.
- Ensure all alterations meet quality standards by inspecting finished garments thoroughly before customer pickup.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols related to press operation and sewing equipment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment sewing, or fashion retail tailoring.
- Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, and garment construction principles.
- Proficiency with sewing machines and hand sewing tools.
- Ability to perform precise measurements using basic math skills for accurate alterations.
- Familiarity with men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, and custom apparel production processes.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients.
- Knowledge of different fabric types and their handling requirements for optimal alteration results.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
