Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, oral surgery, and prosthodontic treatments.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software.
- Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
- Ensure clinical confidentiality policies are strictly followed when handling medical documentation and medical records.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient management software, and assisting the dental reception team as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, aseptic technique, and dental instrument processing.
- Familiarity with dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and oral surgery tools.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including sterilization procedures and infection control protocols.
- Ability to operate dental x-ray units safely while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and provide outstanding patient management.
