Duties
- Perform drug and alcohol specimen collection using urine and other laboratory techniques, ensuring patient comfort and compliance with protocols
- Manage biological samples with precision, adhering to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations and laboratory procedures
- Maintain accurate data entry within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), ensuring all records are up-to-date and compliant with clinical confidentiality policies
- Conduct specimen processing, labeling, and storage following aseptic techniques to prevent contamination or sample degradation
- Communicate clearly with clients and patients regarding collection procedures, maintaining professionalism and empathy at all times
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and cleaned according to standard operating procedures
- Support laboratory management by assisting with inventory control of supplies related to specimen collection and testing
Experience
- Prior experience in involving specimen collection or processing is highly desirable, however we will train the right person
- Knowledge of laboratory management systems (LIS) and proficiency in data entry is preferred
- Familiarity with CLIA regulations, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology principles enhances performance in this role
- Experience working within hospital environments or healthcare facilities demonstrates adaptability to clinical confidentiality policies and hospital protocols
- Strong customer service skills combined with effective client communication are essential for success in this position
