The perfect summer part-time job!
Typically, you will start your day in the early morning, around 8am. You will help feed the animals and prepare for a guided farm tour. You will be responsible for greeting and checking in guests on the front porch. The guided tour of the farm should take anywhere from 40minutes-1hour. You will take guest around the farm and introduce them to our animals. During the tour, you are responsible for keeping both guests and animals safe.
After the farm tour, you may be asked to help clean up around the farm and assist with animal care/upkeeping. During Petting Zoo Days, you will be assigned a location on the farm and you will facilitate interaction with animals and guests.
On other days we will ask you to walk around the farm during peak visitor hours to answer any questions guest may have, help with directions, and share tidbits about the animals.
Goat yoga classes are held on Friday evenings, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. Typically, we need 30-minutes of set up and 30-45minutes to clean up after class. Tasks may include taking pictures during class, cleaning up after goats, sanitizing mats, registering guests.
Function Statement:
Conduct tours in a timely manner through the farm and educate our guests about animals and our farm history. Assist with the upkeep of animals and outbuildings. Being an Ambassador will mean that you show hospitality to our guests and take pride in the appearance and wellbeing of our farm.
Position Responsibilities:
- Facilitating guided tours through our 15-acre farm with children of all ages. This job requires up-close interaction with all farm animals.
- Help at goat yoga classes. Tasks may include, cleaning up after the goats during class, taking pictures of guests, selling merchandise, and registration, etc.
- Manage petting zoo station on event days.
- Assist during any special events held on the farm.
- Feed and provide general care for farm animals, including large animals (cows, horses)
- Maintain a clean working environment by collecting trash and keeping pastures, stalls, and barn areas neat.
- Assist with general maintenance tasks such as watering flowers and light gardening.
- Maintain farm buildings to the standard determined by General Manager.
- Proactively troubleshoot potential issues and report concerns to the supervisor.
- Complete special projects as directed.
