Why Nature? Nature is a magical space that fosters freedom, and boundless imagination. That’s why most of our classes take place outdoors in parks, where we use natural and everyday materials to show children that creativity can happen anywhere, anytime.
Our program serves children aged 1 to 10, with sessions held both outdoors in parks and indoors at our studio. As we establish and grow our program, we are looking for a founding team member who will help shape and build it with us.
About the Role
As Substitute Art Teacher, you will:
- Fill in when our main teachers are on leave.
- Contribute ideas to program development in alignment with our philosophy.
- Prepare and facilitate our programs including: art sessions, birthday parties, outdoor events.
- Document key learnings and insights from each session.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Pick-up children from local schools within walking distance.
- Lead games or light physical activities during sessions.
- Capture photos and videos of sessions for social media updates.

- Possess strong communication skills
- Having experience in teaching art to young children is a plus
- Holding a degree or working toward a degree in Art Education or Fine Arts or a related field from an accredited college or university is a plus.
- Are CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain certification).
- Are willing to undergo a background check.
- Are open to working overtime and on weekends as needed.
What We Offer
- Hourly Rate: $20 - $25, based on education and experience.
Additional Requirements
- Applicants must be based in New York and possess independent U.S. work authorization.
- This role involves physical activity, including prolonged sitting and standing, overhead reaching, bending, and lifting or moving boxes up to 50 pounds unassisted.
