Estimator Job Description

We work closely with material handling dealers, integrators, OEMs, and end users to deliver high-quality, engineered structures that support safe, efficient, and scalable operations.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join our team based in Milwaukee, WI. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career or with 1–3 years of estimating, construction, or material handling experience that is looking to grow within a fast-paced, hands-on engineering and manufacturing environment.
The Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate and competitive project quotes by reviewing customer requirements, coordinating with suppliers, and preparing complete bid packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare complete, formal bid packages using Legacy Steel’s estimating and quoting tools.
- Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings (or develop this skill) to generate bill of materials for quoting.
- Generate a complete RFQ (request for quote) from customer information for submission to engineering and relevant supplier(s).
- Maintain accurate records of estimated and actual costs for future analysis.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including communication for pricing updates on standard items and reviewing supplier quotes for completeness and accuracy.
- Suggest cost-saving measures, or process improvements to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
- Anticipate customer and team members’ requirements.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment while maintaining organization and adapting to changing project needs.
- Coordinate meetings and communication with stakeholders as needed throughout the estimating process.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effectively communicate within a team environment, the ability to collaborate, to learn and grow professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- The ability to learn and become proficient in AutoCAD or similar programs.
- Interpersonal Skills are a must, ability to build rapport through phone calls and emails.
- Flexibility and dependability are two very important attributes to have in our dynamic work setting.
- 1-3 years experience in estimating, construction, or material handling experience is a plus*.
- Steel fabrication experience/knowledge a plus*.

Pay: $1.00 - $11.00 per year
