Position Overview:
The Southern Utah JJYS Coordinator is responsible for planning and facilitating one monthly service project at the Southwest Utah Youth Center at 270 East 1600 North
Cedar City, UT 84720. This role supports youth engagement through meaningful, hands-on service experiences that foster kindness, connection, and community involvement. You will work under the direction of One Kind Act a Day leadership and closely coordinate with the Youth Impact Intern at our Salt Lake office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Connect with local and statewide charities to bring in meaningful service opportunities once a month to the youth at the Southwest Utah Youth Center
- Design and prepare project logistics in collaboration with OKAAD staff, Youth Center Staff, and the Youth Impact Intern
- Coordinate needed materials and setup for each project
- Recruit and bring volunteers as needed to support project execution
- Lead the monthly service project on-site
- Collaborate regularly with the Youth Impact Intern to share ideas, align programming, and improve project impact
Desired Qualifications:
- Passion for serving youth and promoting kindness, service, and community engagement.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team.
- Experience working with youth, volunteer organizations, schools, nonprofits, or community service programs is preferred.
- Comfortable leading small groups and facilitating hands-on activities.
- Ability to build positive relationships with community partners and volunteers.
- Reliable transportation to the Southwest Utah Youth Center in Cedar City.
- Dependable, professional, and able to maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism while working in a secure youth facility.
- Ability to pass any background checks or facility clearances required by the Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS).
Time Commitment:
Approximately 5–7 hours per month:
- 1–2 hours planning the project
- 1–2 hours gathering materials
- 1–2 hours facilitating the service project
Compensation:
- $300 per month stipend for performing a monthly service opportunity
- OKAAD will reimburse or directly provide all materials needed for each project up to the amount of $350
- Materials can include necessary items to complete the project and snacks for the youth
Impact:
This role directly supports the long-term impact of OKAAD projects and positive youth development in JJYS facilities by creating consistent opportunities for service, leadership, and pro-social engagement through monthly hands-on projects.
Pay: $300.00 per month
