Delta Projects, Inc. is hiring for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to work in our residential homes supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live and grow in a manner consistent with that of other citizens of the Commonwealth. Delta promotes dignity and respect for each individual while also focusing on individual needs, hopes and desires.
DSPs are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and development while facilitating mutual aid and self-help skills among individuals. The DSP’s primary role is to provide the appropriate supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. As part of their training, DSPs are able to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and use the appropriate psychiatric and medical back up services to de-escalate the situation.
The shifts available at Randolph locations are:
- Sundays: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
- Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM
- Thursdays and Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Fridays and Saturdays 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attend to the daily needs of individuals while fostering increased independence and self-determination.
- Teach socialization skills and activities of daily living including: self-awareness and human development; menu planning, food shopping and preparation; money management skills/budgeting; household maintenance; transportation and community orientation; individual skills; and utilization of community resources.
- Assist individuals with personal hygiene as needed to ensure that they present themselves in a culturally valued, image-enhancing way.
- Administer and document individual medications as prescribed by a physician in accordance with agency and program procedures.
- Record and appropriately utilize necessary data including daily progress notes, staff logs and Individual Service Plans.
- Transport individuals to and from day programs, medical appointments and other activities as required.
- Provide opportunities for leisure time activities and foster independence in the choice and participation of those activities.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A current and valid United States driver's license and 1+ years' of licensed driving experience is required, along with acceptable driving record
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Respect –shows respect for self, coworkers and the individuals supported
- Oral communication- speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
- Written Communication- is able to read and write information to communicate
- Use of a reliable vehicle, which seats two passengers
- Additional specific experience may be required
