Job Summary
We are looking for a pediatric dental assistant who finds joy with every kiddo we see, to see the best in each kid, to value the parents and their input, do the best job possible, all while having fun.
Responsibilities
- Assist pediatric dentists during clinical procedures, including chairside support and instrument handling
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring adherence to dental x-ray safety standards and HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical records, and collecting vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse
- Educate young patients on oral hygiene practices using age-appropriate dental terminology and behavior management techniques
- Maintain clinical documentation accurately within electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality policies
- Support infection control practices by following aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection prevention standards
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting, preferably with pediatric patients or in general dentistry environments
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, along with patient management software
- Knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment, and clinical procedures including X-ray imaging, oral surgery assistance, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry techniques
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing, sterilization tasks, and maintain strict infection prevention protocols
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to pediatric dentistry and medical terminology for accurate documentation
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members as a dental receptionist or patient care coordinator
- Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training is preferred; ongoing professional development in pediatric dentistry
