The Peer Engagement Internship is a 10-month paid internship for teens through The Second Floor at the JCC. Interns serve as connectors and builders of Jewish life in Pittsburgh, utilizing their own social networks and creating relationships with Jewish students across the community. Interns attend monthly skill-building workshops and create their own teen-led programs to welcome their peers to The Second Floor space.
The Second Floor Peer-Network Engagement Interns will tap into their own personal social networks (youth groups, teams, clubs, etc.) to connect friends and friends of friends to each other, and to launch student-run Jewish initiatives on The Second Floor. You will learn to build authentic relationships, create new Jewish experiences, expand communities, and impart sophisticated and relevant Jewish content.
Throughout the year, PEIs will meet monthly, beginning with an immersive leadership training experience and followed by monthly training seminars and individual check-ins. These workshops and experiences provide opportunities for real-world skill building in social network mapping, event planning, communication, community organizing, and peer-to-peer engagement. PEIs will also have the opportunity to work with different staff at the JCC, both in our Teen Department and across the agency. Interested students must be in grades 10-12 and over the age of 16 to apply. All First-Year Peer Engagement Interns will be paid at a rate of $9/hour and Returning PEIs will be paid at a rate of $10/hour for the 2026-2027 school year.
